William Brother's Auto defeats R.J. Fence to win Masters League tournament

2024 MASTERS WINNERS! William Brother’s Auto defeated R.J. Fence Co. 9-8 in the bottom of the 7th to win the Masters single-elimination Tournament. Front row, l-r: sponsor J.D. The Williams Brothers squad won the 2024 Masters League Championship Tuesday night with not one, but two walk-off wins in the bottom of the 7th inning
WILLIAM BROTHER’S – 15 STATE FARM – 14
In the semifinal game against State Farm, the Brothers answered State Farm’s 5 – run 1st inning with 4 of their own and the tight battle was on. 5 run innings in the 3rd and 4th allowed the Brothers to claim a 7 run lead. However, the Insurance men rallied to tie the game with a 4-run 7th inning at 14-14. John Johnson led off the bottom of the 7th with a base hit and after 2 outs were made, Avery Cooper delivered the clutch walk-off double to score Johnny with the winning run. This was Coop’s 4th hit of the game, John chipped in 3 hits and along with Bob Miller, who stroked a 2 run inside the park homer, scored 3 runs as well. Scott Mahon, the winning pitcher in both games, Bob, Scott Libbe, Charlie Oberlin and Larry Hack all had 2 hits each in the 15-14 victory. Defensively, a Bob Miller to Jon LaBeau to Dan Leonard relay job cut down one runner at the plate, and another was cut down at 3rd base in the win.
WILLIAM BROTHER’S 9-8 WIN!
In the championship game against R&J Fence, the Brothers were looking at a 5 run deficit after one inning. We battled back, taking a 7-6 lead with 2 runs in the 5th. R & J scored twice in the top of the 7th to take an 8-7 lead into the bottom of the inning. Dan Leonard led off with a crucial base hit and after one out was made, leadoff hitter, Jon LaBeau stroked a double to left field. Bob Miller was walked to load the bases. John Johnson came through with a base hit to score one run and Scott Libbe walked off the championship victory with a base hit to left field with the bases loaded to score LaBeau with the championship winning run. Bob Miller, John Johnson, Larry Hack and Scott Libbe all chipped in 2 hits in the victory. Johnny hit a mammoth 2 run home run in the 4 run 3rd after LaBeau had hit an inside the park home run in the same inning. Jon LaBeau hit for the cycle in the championship victory with a single, double, triple and inside the parker… A GREAT SEASON for the WILLIAMS BROTHERS! Sidelines Pub wins 2024 Legends League and Tournament!

2024 CHAMPIONS! Sidelines Pub won the SSS 2024 League Championship and in the tournament finals, defeated Bullmoose 21-20 to win the SSS tournament . Sidelines stats: team average .667, top 3-hitters: Eric Sitter .783, Mike Miller .754 and Mel Edmunson .734. Homerun leaders: Justin Keller -12, Shawn Dresch – 9 and Mike Miller – 7. Team totals – 413 hits and 40 walks.
Sidelines defeats Fricker's Red 11-8 in Semi-finals!
In the semi -finals game, Sidelines was able to pull out a close one against Fricker’s Red 11-8. Defense was on display throughout the game, while the offense did just enough to win and move on to the finals. Offensive leaders were Mike Miller 3-3 with a double and triple, Justin Keller 2-3, Bobby Z 2-3 with an OTFHR, Paul Wesolowski 2-3, Pac-Man 2-3 with a double, Jeff Spotts 2-3, Mel Edmundson 2-4 – with everyone in the lineup collecting at least 1 hit.
Sidelines defeats Bullmoose 21-20 to win Championship!
Sidelines vs Bullmoose – this game added up to be what everyone thought it would be, with Sidelines winning in walk – off fashion, 21-20. Sidelines again had everyone in the lineup collecting at least one hit to go with some timely walks and sacrifice flies. Leading the way to the championship were Mel Edmondson 4-4 with an OTFHR and a double, Mike Miller 3-4 with an OTFHR, Justin Keller 3-3 with an OTFHR, double and walk, Eric Sitter 3-3 with a SAC, Ed Sharek 2-2 with an OTFHR, triple and walk, Bobby Z 2-3 with an OTFHR and walk, Bob Ruckman 2-3 with a double, Jeff Spotts 2-3 with a triple, Shawn Dresch 1-2 with 2 walks and Paul Wesolowski 1-2 with a walk and SAC. It was a great season for Sidelines with a great group of guys always willing to do whatever it took to win and pick each other up. This was a very competitive League, with all teams pretty equal in talent.

CONGRATULATIONS! State Farm’s John Brubaker and his team mates congratulate Harvard’s Bruce Anderson, George Martinez, Paul Wisniewski, Jim Nickelsen and team members upon winning the 2014 Masters’ League tournament, Tuesday, August 12. The winners receive SSS champion T-shirts.

TOURNAMENT FINALISTS! Joel Hansen’s State Farm team ended league play with a 6-11 record. They bounced back to finish second in the Masters’ end-of-the-season tournament.
