2019 LEGENDS CHAMPIONS! Fricker’s Maroon was down 4-runs in the bottom of the 8th – in a “must-win” game – rallied to score 5-runs to defeat Bull Moose 16-15. Fricker’s finished with a 11-3 record. This was Gary Downey’s forth championship win in eight seasons as a manager. In a must win game for Maroon, we scored 5 in the bottom of the 8th to pull out a great win and seal the Legends League championship. After failing to score in the 7th, Maroon saw Bull Moose plate 4 runs in the 8th, but the Maroon men rose to the challenge, culminated by a George Hilfinger drive over the RC to put the exclamation point on a great season. Hitting leaders: Wayne Harris ( 5-5 OTF HR 4RBI Season:.723 5 HR 29 RBI), Jase Sweede ( 4-5 3RBI Season: .623 30 R 29 RBI), George Hilfinger ( 3-5 4 RBI Season: .679 2 HR 37 RBI), Jim Elchert ( 2-3 RBI BB Season: ,643 833 Slugging PCT Outstanding outfield play), Kris Brickman ( 2-3 R Season: Consistent hitting and great defense at 2nd), Todd Hofer ( 2-4 2 RBI Season: .540 1 HR great defense at MI), Jeff Kramer ( 2-4 3 R BB RBI Season: 645 Stellar outfielder), Bob Ruckman (2-4 Season ,545 Great pitching and defense), Steve Glass ( 2-4 RBI Season: .596 1 HR 25 RBI Superb SS play), Mark Gedert ( 2-5 RBI Season: .706 29 R 22 RBI nearly flawless at 3rd), Sid Siddall ( BB scored in 8th Season: led team in BB, Key hits and outstanding defense at 1B 2B C), Mark Jackson, was injured DNP Season: great fielder at 2B RF and consistent hitting all year, and me, Gary Downey, who had the privilege of playing with and managing the best group of guys anywhere. I believe this league was the best it’s ever been this year, so congratulations to Maroon for being 2019 Legends League Champs.

JEFF TRAUDT’S State Farm Insurance team started 0-2, but came on strong the rest of the season finishing with a 11-3 record to tie for first place with Fricker’s Maroon in the 2019 Legends League. The championship was awarded to Fricker’s Maroon based on the SSS “tie- breaker” rules. The Farm boys were led by Scott Nichols .796 /8 HR’s and Dave Sanecki .763/10 HR’s. ANDY & BARNEY’S 9, KREIGER REALTY 5 ANDY & BARNEY’S extended their win streak to 13-straight games, defeating Kreiger Realty 9-5 in the first game of a double-header. Key hit: with two outs in the 4th, Guy Stager drove in two runs with a sharp single to center. In the 7th with the score tied at four all, bases loaded, Dann Schlenbaker plated three runs with a double and scored on Jim Nickelsen single. Kreiger failed to score in the 9th – with two on, one out – Jim VanBrandt hit into a double-play.

ANDY & BARNEY’S 8, RUDY’S HOT DOG 4 ANDY & BARNEY’S defense stepped up, turning two key double-plays in a 8-4 win over Rudy’s Hot Dog for the league champions 14th win! Andy & Barney’s 2019 top hitters: Bruce Klostermeier-.810 avg., Mark Gedert-.726 avg., 39-RBI, 6-HR’s, John Johnson-.712 avg., 9-HR’s, 30-RBI, Bill Bray-.688 avg., Dann Schlenbaker-.682 avg., Charles Feltman-.658 avg. and Tim Kuzmaul – .617 avg. In the Masters League eleven year history, Andy & Barney’s is the first team to go 14-0! A combination of good hitting, solid defense and 13-men playing with a special passion – and a love for the game! Congratulations!!!
