Autumn Hunters vs The Gurkhas
Game 1: Hunters 13 – Gurkhas 12
On a beautiful final night of softball, The Autumn Hunter’s walked off the Gurkas 13-12 in a unique 6 inning game as the League for the first time I am aware (and certainly first time in the Fall) had a triple header of three 6 inning games. It was great to see our old friend and legend Joe Pastorek filling in and pitching for the Gurkas. The Gurkas jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one inning, but the Hunter’s battled back to take a 12-8 lead into the last inning. The Gurka’s tied the game with 4 runs in the top of the 6th , but the Hunter’s won the game as Joe Beham led off with a single and got to 2nd on a throwing error; John Arrington was intentionally walked and after one out Sweet Lou McDonald hit a shot into LC for game winning base hit. The Autumn hunter’s were led in hitting by : Paul Wesolowski 3-3 with a 2b; Joe Beham 3-3; John Arrington 2-2 with a walk; Sweet Lou Mcdonald 2-3; Jay Kennedy; Rick Beham; Aaron Young ; Jeff Batanian; Glen Wasielowski ; Paul Cummings and Scott Dheel all added a hit each. Aaron Young as usual with nice catches in LC; Joe Beham two sliding catches in LF; Scott Dheel with a couple catches in RF. Infield of John Arrington; Rick Beham; Gary Gardner, Paul Cummings, Glen Wasielowski and Jeff Batanian played great.
Game 2: Hunters 21 – Gurkhas 12
In the night cap it was Autumn Hunter’s 21-12 over the Gurka’s. The Autumn Hunter’s jumped out with 15 runs in the first three innings and never trailed. The Autumn Hunter’s were led in itting by Jay Kennedy 4-4 with an OTFHR and an Inside Park HR; Rick Beham 3-4; Jeff Batanian 3-3; Glen Wasielowski 3-3; Aaron Young 2-4 with two 2b; Paul Wesolowski 2-3; Joe Beham 2-3; John Arrington 2-2; Sweet Lou Mcdonald 2-3; Paul Cummings 2=3 ; Scotty Too Hotty Dheel 2-2 with a 2b; and the ageless wonder Mike Betley 2-3. Paul Wesolowski pitched a great game.
Inglorious Batters vs Stackers United
Game 1: Batters 19 – Stackers 12
In the first game of of twi-night triple header the batters got the win over Souva’s tough Stackers squad. Mike Hamann was once again outstanding on the hill and our defense was great as usual. The hitting was led by perfect games from Jamie Crothers, Todd Migliori ( Mig), Bob Collins, Jeff Wagenhauser, Mark Clair and Kim Crosby… with OTF HR’s from Crothers and Mig. Defensive gems were turned in by Collins, Mig, Wags, Clair and All World Gold Glover Jase Sweede. Leading hitters: Jamie Crothers ( 3-3 3R HR 3 RBI), Mark Clair ( 3-3 R 2B 3 RBI), Mig ( 3-3 3R 2B HR 3 RBI), Bob Collins ( 3-3 3R 2 RBI), Jeff Wags ( 3-3 3R RBI), Kim Crosby ( 1-1 BB R RBI), Jim Elchert ( 2-3 2R 4 RBI), Mike Dye ( 2-3 R RBI), and Jase Sweede ( 1-2 BB RBI).
Game 2: Batters 21 – Stackers 14
The Batters overcame an early deficit with 16 runs over the last 3 frames to roll past the Stackers in game two. Brett Crosby tossed another gem and the defense was very good again. The bottom 6 hitters in our lineup went 17-21 in this game including a big two run double fron Mike Hamann to deep center and a clutch 2 run scoring single from Kim Crosby. Perfect games at the plate were registered by Bob Collins, Mark Clair and Mike Hamann… Clair and Collins were both 7-7 in the first two games. Leading hitters: Bob Collins ( 4-4 R 5 RBI), Mark Clair ( 4-4 3R 2 RBI), Mike Hamann 2-2 BB R 3 RBI), Jase Sweede ( 3-4 2R 2 RBI), Mike Dye ( 3-4 3R 2 RBI), Brett Crosby ( 3-4 2R 2 RBI), Jamie Crothers ( 3-4 2R RBI), Mig ( 3-4 2B 3B 3R), Kim Crosby ( 2-3 R 2 RBI), Jeff Spotts ( 2-4 R 2B 2 RBI), and Jim Elchert ( 2-4 R RBI).
Fall Ballers vs Renegades
Game 1: Renegades 15 – Ballers 5
Renegades started slow, with zeroes in the first two innings, but put up 5 runs in each of the next three frames to hold off the Ballers. Mike Miller threw a good game, keeping the Ballers out of their comfort zone, and the defense, with Vesschy back in the OF, played a nearly perfect game. At the plate, Larry Hernandez was a perfect 3/3, Klump and Korb were 2/2, and 2/3 games were turned in by Strobel, Naylor, Mills (HR), and Reilly. Everyone had a hit and a run scored.
Not much offense against the Renegades . Mark Murphy 3/3 2 r, Jerry Ford 2/3 2r, Tod Hoefer2/2 and Dave Durfey 2/3.
Game 2: Ballers 15 – Renegades 8
Game two started slow for us again, and this time we couldn’t hit our way out of it, and the Ballers stacked up runs that we didn’t match. Three runs through 4 innings won’t win a lot of games. We hit the ball hard, but just right at the defense, and they made the plays. Reilly did his best to keep us in the game from the mound, but received little offensive support. Mills added another HR (and was 3/3), as did Nick (2/3). Naylor, Vesschy, Larry, and Tanner were 2/3.
Make Up Games from October 7th:
Renegades 32 – Gurkhas 11
The offense we were missing in Game 2 showed up in this game, highlighted by a 10-run open inning. Strobel, Nick, Mills, Vesschy, and Larry H were 5/5, Sitter and Reilly added HRs, and Tanner had an ITP HR somehow.
Thanks to all my Renegades teammates and subs (Eric Iffland, Bob Miller, and Wayne Stumm) for a great 8-2 season. We fought our way through a few injuries but everyone was willing to adjust and play where needed to get us through. Great to have new players Phil Naylor and Rodger Marciniak too – hope to see you next summer! As a team, our OBP was .690, which shows how well the entire lineup played and how we were able to lead the league in runs scored.
Batters 21 – Ballers 14
The Batters finished the season in fine fashion by upending Rick Schmidt’s outstanding Fall Baller team thanks to a nice 8 run 6th inning. Brett Crosby was great again on the mound and our defense was again very good… as it was all season. Jeff Spotts was our leadoff hitter all year and once again came through in a big way with a perfect game at the dish, as did Mig, Bob Collins, Jim Elchert, and Mike Dye..who also had a fantastic season both hitting and with the glove, as well as providing the musical entertainment for us. Mig and Bob Collins both added OTF bombs in this one and those guys were run producing machines all season long. Jeff Wags, Mig, Jim Elchert and Spotts were again stellar with the gloves in the OF as were Collins, Dye, Jamie Crothers, Mark Clair and Jase Sweede in the IF. Leading hitters: Jim ” Roadrunner” Elchert ( 4-4 2R 2 RBI), Mig ( 3-3 2R HR 5 RBI), Bob Collins ( 3-3 4R HR 4 RBI), Jeff Spotts ( 3-3 4R BB 2B RBI), Mike Dye ( 3-3 R 2 RBI), Jamie Crothers ( 2-3 2R 2 RBI), Kim Crosby ( 2-3 2R RBI), Brett Crosby ( 2-3 R RBI), Mike Hamann ( 2-3 R 2B RBI), Jase Sweede ( 2-4 2 RBI), and Jeff Wags walked, singled, scored twice and knocked in a run. We missed Matt ” Fireball” Ciecka tonight… Fireball was a defensive wizard and hit like a Boss all season. I can’t say enough about the selfless attitude of this bunch.. just a fine bunch of teammates. This was a total team effort all year. We ended up 9-1 including 8 straight wins to finish the year. We also had an 8 run margin avg.. which has to be the best ever. I’d also like to thank Wayne Stumm who subbed in 4 games for us and was outstanding… as he always is. Thank you to my team.. well done Inglorious Batters!
Tough loss to the IB team . After leading after 6innings the Batters scored 8 runs in the 7th and shutting down the Ballers. Dave Obert with another ISTPHR, 3/3, Mike LA Point 2/3 2R, Guy Stager 2/3,Dave Durfey 2/3 2 2b, Denny Miller 2/2 2r OTFHR Jerry Ford 2/4 and Mark Murphy finishing the night2/3 and 8/9 for the night. Congrat to the Inglorious Batters on the league title. Thanks to my team for the fun season. Made some new friends
Stackers 20 – Hunters 19
The final game of the Fall season saw two teams that were not in contention to win the Fall league, but still battled hard to the end as Stacker’s United won with a walk off rallying from a 3 run deficit in the final inning. The game was back and forth and ended with the walk off after two home runs tied the game. The Autumn Hunter’s were led in hitting by: Aaron Young 3-3 with two 2b; Sweet Lou McDonald 3-3 with a 2b; Jay Kennedy 2-3 with an OTF HR; Paul Wesolowski 2-3; Gary Gardner 2-3; Jeff Batanian 2-3; Joe Beham 2-2; John Arrington 2-3; Scotty Two Hotty Scott Dheel 2-3; Rick Beham, Paul Cummings and Mike Betley added a hit each. I want to thank my squad as we had perfect attendance as every player made every game (only team to do that) . I love the Fall season as I get to play with my brother Rick, my brother in law Sweet Lou McDonald (is there anyone more happy or positive); my long time buddy Jeff Batanian (who I have played with for over 25 years); The living legend 77 year old Mike Betley and Scotty Two Hotty Scott Dheel (I am joined at the Fall Ball hip with those two). I got to finally play on the same team with the best LC in the game Aaron Young; the hit machine Paul Wesolowski; the sweet leftie John Arrington, the true gentlemen and such an enjoyable and funny teammate Gary Gardner ; the incredible Jay Kennedy (guy hits bombs like he hits the weed lol); and got to meet newcomers Glen Wasliewski and Paul Cummings. Thanks guys for a fun Fall season.
