Fricker's Blue racks up 26-hits, 21-runs!
In the tournament championship game Fricker’s Blue faced a vastly improved Fricker’s White team that had just knocked off the regular season champs. Blue played another excellent game both offensively and defensively in defeating White by a score of 21-11. Fricker’s Blue jumped out to an early 10-1 lead but Fricker’s White kept batting back to stay competitive. Mike Miller again pitched a solid game while going 3/3. Mike Stroebel and Dave Pacholski were 4/4 while Rich Howey was 3/3 in Blue's 26 hit attack in their 6 at bats. Aaron Young was 3/4 with a monstrous OTF home run while Rob Boehme was 2/2 with an OTF home run. John Birmingham was 2/3 while Steve Hosler, Fritz Hartkopf, Tom Young, Tom Easler, and Virgil Correa each contributed a hit as every batter in Blue's lineup had at least one hit. Winning this tournament was really big for Fricker’s Blue after losing out on the regular season championship by the narrowest of margins. Congratulations to Fricker’s White for a fine season and their good sportsmanship. Thanks to BCSN for supporting our league and to Jerry Keefe for making it happen. And thanks to my Fricker’s Blue teammates. Not only was this a very talented and successful team but it was also a very enjoyable team on which to play. Every player supported the other and every player contributed in a positive way. Team chemistry and camaraderie was definitely a big part of our success. Sorry to see this season end! GO BLUE!!!
