Player/Coach
Jay is a member of the SSS Board of Directors and plays a vital role in the success of the league. He manages a Frickers team on Thursdays and is Chairman of the Cook-Out. He recently retired from the Toledo Police Dept. with the rank of Detective in the Auto Squad. He has been playing competitive ball since 1979. The tournament team won the 2011 SPA Great Lakes Nationals at Pacesetter. His wife, Vicki and mother, Jean take active roles in the annual cook-out.

Allshred Services 50's team, coached by Jay Schramm, competed in the SPA Great Lakes National Tournament, held at Pacesetter Park, August 2-5. 2011 National "AA" Champions, they had to compete this year in the "AAA" division. Shred Squad hitters on a roll!
Allshred's big hitters didn't let down in the SPA tournament held at Pacesetter Park, Aug. 4 & 5. "Stormin Norman" Cairl led with an .840 batting average along with two dingers. Ric "Lightning" Hendee belted four home runs with a .733 batting average. Dave Obert found his swing an hit one dinger while batting .770. Rob Boehme chipped in with a .777 average. Every Allshred ballplayer hit the ball with authority and the team averaged 19 runs a game over five games.

BARBERTON, OHIO - The Allshred/Pacesetter team, coached by Jay Schramm, competed in the SPA Buckeye Classic, June 23 & 24. with 3 home runs in slugfest!
The Allshred/Pacesetter 50 plus softball club traveled to Akron/Barberton June 23 & 24 to compete in Thee Buckeye Classic. First up for A/P was Capps ballclub out of Ashtabula, Ohio. A slugfest ensued with A/P crossing the plate with 30 runs, outlasting Capps 30 to 10. Jasee Sueede had four hits as did Steve Higgins and Rob Boehme. Gabe Barrow filled in nicely in right field with two putouts in the first inning. Each A/P ball player had at least two hits.
Second up for A/P was a tough Players Warehouse club out of Dayton, Ohio. Gary Beale was the man of the hour with three home runs himself. Phil Richard had his stroke going also with two hits. Final score though showed A/P on the shortend by a score of 20 to 4. Next up was Sharon Enterprises, a local ballclub. Rob Boehme belted out three line drive hits and Jay Schramm launched a home run. Gary Beale and Dave Obert put on a defensive display in left and left center fields respectively, catching drives over their shoulders. Marty Harrison added a pair of extra base hits. Final score: AllShred 20, Sharonent Enterprises 11.
A/P then locked horns with Strabane ballclub out of Pennsylvania. Strabane had their hitting shoes on for this contest, outbelting A/P by a score of 24 to 13. Steve Higgins had a home run. Norm Cairl, Jim Johnson, Phil Richard, John Yocom, Ric Hendee, and Rob Boehme all added two hits apiece. A/P hooked up with Computer Time and got their hitting shoes back on. Continue article

John has been playing competitive softball for over 40 years. He branched off the Sylvania 60's Tournament Team, to form the Raptors and currently plays in the SSS Tuesday and Thursday Leagues. John follows a rigid physical program: 12-months of conditioning and 6-months playing ball. A speedster, he has participated in many Senior Olympic Track & Field events.

SPA/GREAT LAKES WINNERS! The Maumee Bay Raptors won the 60's AA SPA Great Lakes National Tournament, held at Pacesetter Park, Sylvania, Ohio, August 2-5, 2012. SPA Buckeye Classic Tournament
TThe Maumee Bay Raptors competed in “Thee Buckeye Classic” SPA Nationals at Barberton, Ohio on Jun 15-16 and finished third out of 12 teams in the AA division winning 4 games and losing 3 games. The Raptors made it to the finals of the losers bracket before losing to CAVCO of Windsor, Ontario. The Maumee Bay Raptors won the Toledo Area Office on Aging Sports Classic 60 and over tournament championship with a record of 4 wins and 0 losses. The 2012 tournament was held at the Oregon Sports Complex on June 9. Bruce was born and raised in Flint, Mich., where he attended Kearsley H.S. He played in all four sports: football, baseball, basketball and track.
At Hillsdale College he majored in Mathematics, with minors in Physics and Physical Education. He played football, basketball and baseball and was a Captain in all three at various times. Bruce retired after teaching at Kearsley, Whitmer and Cental. He played fast-pitch softball for years and then turned to slow-pitch. He was one of the original founders of the SSS league and served on the Board for three years.
