SIDELINES SPORT EATERY'S Jerry Edmunson, with the winner's plaque, accepted the award from l-r: Rick Stager, Bob Collins and Jay Schramm. Sidelines won the I.S.S.A. Men's 65's AAA Northern Division Championship, with a 5-0 record. The tournament was held Sept. 18-20 at Cincinnati, Ohio.

FRICKER'S MAROON'S Gary Downey, left, congratulates Ed Reed on winning the Legends' "King of Swat" title with 16-homeruns in eleven games, hitting .875 and driving in 47-RBI. Fricker's won the league with a 12-2 record. This is coach Downey's 5th league win in nine years. Reed has played in the Vegas World Series nine times and finished in second place six times. He lives in Saline, Mich.

FRICKER'S Scott "Peanut" Lannen, middle-infielder, shows great form as he fields a grounder in the season's final game against Fricker's Green. Fricker's Maroon won the Legends' League with a 12-2 record. "Peanut" hit .700 in his rookie year.

MASTERS' TOURNAMENT WINNERS! Schneider Sons' Electric defeated Tech Support Services to win the Masters' League end-of-season tournament. Jim VanBrandt, left, Hoyt Englund and Syd Siddall with the winner's trophy.

LEAGUE CHAMPS! Andy & Barney's 1B Guy Stager, left, 2B Dan Korcsog and M/I Dan Calmes' solid defensive play was key to the team winning the Masters' League with an 11-3 record. Calmes hit .653 and Korcsog .629.

WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE! Gary Downey, right, with rookie Rick Bechtel. Bechtel played in the Tuesday and Thursday leagues. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University, where he was captain of the men's Varsity tennis team and a Mid-American Conference finalist at the #1 singles position. In 2012 he was inducted into the Toledo City Athletic League Hall of Fame. The award is on display at the Seagate Convention Center.

He's won the title five times in league play and five times in the SSS homerun derbies.

SOLID AT 3rd! Veteran infielder Roy Woodworth, waits on a hop at third in a game Schneider Sons' Electric won to improve their record to 3-0 in the Masters' Tuesday night league. Roy joined the SSS league in 2010. He played 3rd for Attorney C. Craig Covrette's team and finished with a 3-15 record. At Adrian College, Woodworth played first and the outfield for the baseball team. He's always been noted for having a great glove at the hot corner.

PLAY BALL! The Sylvania Senior Softball season opened late due to COVID-19. The Masters 8-team league for 58+ opened June 16 and the 8-team Legends League for 50+ June 18 at Pacesetter Park. Schramm traveled South with a diversified '65-plus tournament team that included Gary Meyer, Gary Beale and Bob Collins. The ISSI event was held March 12-15 at the Myrtle Beach Astro-turf complex. The team was sponsored by Jerry Edmonson's Sidelines Sports Eatery.

Coach Jay Schramm assembled a diversified team of '65-plus area players that included SSS players Bob Collins, Gary Meyer and Gary Beale, plus former SSS league players Neal Klopping and Vonderembse. Sidelines Sports Eateries sponsored the traveling team who played with only eleven players, due to injuries.

The Invitational Tournament was held March 12-15, 2020.
