'TIS THE SEASON! SSS members Mark Goodremont, left and Jase Sweede experienced a bit of a culture shock when they attended the Toledo Ballet's " Nutcracker" at the Stranahan Theatre, Saturday, December 9. The "Nutcracker" features exquisite dancing, breathtaking scenery and Tchaikovsky's beloved score performed live by the Toledo Orchestra.

WWAST GAMES! SSS member Gary Walton, USA Air Force, retired, sang the National Anthem and God Bless America on May 26 at Mercy Field. He also played in the SSS Veterans and local celebrities game vs. the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball team. The Warriors won 15-2.

ANDY & BARNEY'S servers Sam and Taylor welcome the the Tuesday night Masters League players with 1/2-price specials: pizza, taco's and wings. A&B has been a league sponsor since 2010 and a sponsor of the Fall League since 2012.

PLAY BALL! SSS Board President Gary Meyer opened the organizational Meeting at the Sylvania Senior Center with a cheerful greeting to 80-plus players. Meyer is a co-founder of the league, formed in 2008 and served as President for six years. He took three years off and was reelected to the Board in August 2017. Practices, open to everyone, at Pacesetter Park, start April 9 - weather permitting and are scheduled for every Tuesday and Thursday through May 10.

LIFE IS A BEACH! Joel Hansen, former SSS Board member, retired in December and moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. Joel sponsored Hansen State Farm teams from 2008 - 2016, played in the league and traveled with tournament teams. An accomplished athlete, Hansen received acclaim for his great photography that graced the SSS website.

CELEBRATION OF LOVE! Gary and Susan Meyer celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, March 10 at the Monclova Community Center. A large group of family and friends attended the festive gathering. Gary is a co-founder of the SSS league, and it's current Board President.

WINNERS! Jeff Traudt, left, sponsor/ infielder and Terry Thomas, player/ manager, celebrate after winning the SSS Legends 2018 tournament. State Farm defeated League Champs, Schneider Sons' Electric 10-7 in the finals. Traudt's State Farm Agency is a lifetime member of the State Farm President's Club. Thomas is the Chief Financial Officer, SVP for Waterford Bank.
