SSS players win gold medals
at 2017 Huntsman Sr. games

ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Six SSS players joined the Simon Electric Co. team, Milwaukee, Wis., to play in the Class AA Huntsman Senior Games. Back row, from left: 3rd-Gary Meyer, 6th- Bruce Anderson, far right, Dan Schlembaker. Front row, from left: Richard Block, James Burnor and 4th, John Radscheid. In the bottom of the 7th, one out, down a run, bases loaded, Gary Meyer lined a shot off the left field fence, scoring two runs to win 18-17 and strike gold. Simon's finished with a 4-1 record.

ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Gold medalists Bruce Anderson, back row, third from the right, and Jim Burnor, first, front row, won gold metals with the 75's Simon Electric Co. team, Milwaukee, Wis. The SSS players also won gold with the 70's Simon team and a bronze with the Sidelines Sports Bar 65's.

ST. GEORGE UTAH - Jim Dunlavy, 2nd row, 2nd on the right, a co- founder of the Sylvania Senior Softball League, received a silver medal at the Huntsman World Senior Games while playing for Triwood, a team out of Calgary, Canada.

ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Bruce Anderson, center, received a ring and special recognition for his 15-year participation in the Huntsman World Senior games. The award was presented by CEO Kyle Case, left, and John Morgan, Jr., right, President and Founder of the Huntsman games. Mr. Morgan turned 91 on 10/12/17. Founded in 1987- it's an international Sports Event for men and women, 55 & up. In 1987, Jon M. Huntsman became the games principal sponsor. Anderson was a co-founder of the Sylvania Senior League, established in 2008.

FALL BALL CHAMPS! Hunters' Dave Sanecki led the hitting spree going 3/3 with two OTFHR and a double in a 15-13 win over the Bronx Bombers. Hunters win league with a 9-1 record!

Championship game:
Hunters 15 - Bronx Bombers 13

 

The Hunters got a tough, back and forth, hard fought win against the Bronx Bombers. The Bomber's needed a sweep of the DH to claim the Fall Softball crown as The Hunters were 8-0 coming into the DH and the Bombers 6 - 2. The Hunters started off fast scoring 5 runs in the first inning only to see the Bronx Bombers battle back to take a 13-10 lead after 5 innings. The Hunters then scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th inning. Dave Sanecki led off the 6th with a OTF HR, then after two were out and no one on base, the Hunters scored 4 runs . "Johnny B Good" John Brubaker started the rally with a single followed by singles by Marty Schmenk and Bob Collins and a double by Pat Hoehn and finally a huge two run single by Ed Ferguson to cap off the 5 run inning. The Hunters held the 15-13 lead for the last two innings shutting down the vaunted Bomber hitters with no runs. Terry "Tbone" Thomas got the win on the mound and sealed the victory making a nice stab on a Bill Trego hot grounder to end the game. The Hunters were led in hitting by Dave "SMF" Sanecki who was 3-3 with two OTF HR and a double: Joe Beham 3-3 with two triples; Marty Schmenk 3-3; Terry "Tbone " Thomas 2-3 with a double; Mark Clair 2-3; Marty Harrison 2-3 and Bob Collins 2- 3.>
