Championship Game:
Fricker's Navy 20 - Fricker's Maroon 7

The Navy men continued their late season surge by upending the outstanding Maroon team of Joe Beham. We would like to commend Joe and his team for a great season, and for their outstanding sportsmanship during and after this game. Navy won 7 of their last 8, including the last 5 in a row. Of those 7 wins, 5 were by 11 runs or more. This team played great defense, and got a great performance all year from pitcher Jim Van Brandt. We won 12 games, and in 10 of those, we gave up single digit run totals. In the final, the Captain of the Navy ship, Jay Schramm, was 3-3, had on OTF HR and 4RBI. Jay also saved several out with some fine plays at 1st. On the season, in 15 games, Jay contributed 29 RBI and played stellar D all year. Dave Sanecki had a ridiculous Rookie season, hitting .726, 15 HR 47 RBI. In this game, Dave was 3-4, 2 OTF HR 5RBI. Bob Miller was outstanding at SS, hit .649 5 HR 34 RBI. In the final, 2-3 2 2B 3R. Wayne Harris had a great season in LC, hit .644 2 HR 32 RBI. In the final, 3-4 3R 2B 2RBI. Dr. Kris Brickman was great down the stretch, hitting .727 over the last 6 games. In the final, 3-3 2B 3 RBI . Dave Copi, whom I consider one of the finest teammates we had the pleasure of having, hit .647 in the last 5 games, and in the final, 2-3 2R RBI. Tim Van Brandt, struggled with injuries, playing in only 8 games. When Tim played, he was as good as it gets defensively, and hit .640. In the final, Tim was rock solid at MI. Rick Obert was outstanding at 3rd all season, and had 17 RBI in 13 games. In the final, 2-4 2R RBI. In the final, as all year, Jim Van Brandt pitched us to another victory, holding Maroon to 7 runs, and had key hits all year. We had 2 players who were'nt able to play in the final due to injury. Mike " Woody" Wilson played 12 games, and was an outstanding and versatile defender, and consistently was a force offensively. Woody Woodrow was lost making a great diving catch in game 15, breaking 4 ribs. Woody was another guy who was great down the stretch, hitting .636 over the last several games. Both of these guys are great teammates, and continued to come out and support us. Also, Gary Downey saved his best for last, going 4-4 4 RBI. We also thank sub Dave Obert, who played in the final. Dave, as always, played outstanding in LC. We would like to thank all of our subs this season, and the list is lenghty. But our go to guy was Mr. Bull Moose, Mark Clair, who subbed for us several times, and always played well. We also thank Gary Beale for umpiring the final. And we thank our throng of fans for the final game, Sherry Harris and Mark Gedert. I want to thank my teammates for a most enjoyable season, you guys are the best.
